Styles of Reiki

There are numerous styles of Reiki currently being practiced today. Below is a list of many and a brief descriptive of these are given on the Reiki Council website.

In the West, when Reiki was introduced by Mrs Takata, it was taught in an oral form resulting in people practising Reiki styles with the same name having different elements.

The list of styles below is not exclusive, is presented in alphabetical order, and you will almost certainly find more on doing a web search.

Basic rule of thumb is that Western styles of Reiki will always have a lineage that starts:

  1. Dr Mikao Usui
  2. Dr Hayashi
  3. Mrs Takata
  4. This will be followed by one of Mrs Takata’s 22 known Reiki Masters.

And so the Reiki tree grows and flourishes.
